Getting vaccinated at your vacation spot, especially for a second dose, will be possible from Monday in France.

Invited from Europe 1 on Saturday, LR mayor of La Baule, Franck Louvrier, called on the government to "take into account the migration of the population" by distributing to seaside resorts "additional doses".

INTERVIEW

From Monday, candidates for vaccination against Covid-19 will be able to make an appointment for two injections in two different places, the second injection, in particular, thus being able to be done "in the holiday areas", according to the Minister of Health Olivier Véran who spoke about this on Friday.

"I ask the government this evening to take into account the migration of the population and therefore to provide us in our vaccination centers, especially on the coast, with additional doses", reacted the mayor Les Républicains de La Baule, Franck Louvrier, Saturday on Europe 1.

"Too bad this decision was announced so late"

If he says that La Baule has been preparing for this measure for some time, "it is a pity that this decision was announced so late", he points out.

In La Baule, the vaccination center has already carried out 50,000 injections since it was set up, with around “1,000 injections per day,” said the elected official.

But for him, "it is sure that the vaccination centers in Paris will be deserted in August" and that of La Baule, therefore, "much more filled".

"So we really need to be able to meet that demand by having extra doses."

Vaccination is also not the only element on which the mayor relies to avoid any cluster in his city.

This Saturday is launching "an awareness campaign among young people which will be called 'Screen yourself before entering the track'", indicates Franck Louvrier.

Objective: to allow young people to get tested easily before going to a discotheque.

"Urban stewards" on the beaches to enforce barrier gestures

"As you know, for vaccination, there is a delay between the first injection and the second which is important. So, when [young people] want to go to places where the health pass is compulsory, we must help them to get tested, ”adds the mayor. The approach will be materialized by a screening center installed in connection with the SNCF and therefore near the station.

And the beaches will not escape a device to limit the spread of the coronavirus either. "We are going to set up urban stewards, that is to say young, seasonal workers who will be there to teach and explain that it is, of course, preferable to respect barrier gestures", explains Franck. The worker. La Baule will also be able to count on its municipal police and a CRS company present during the summer to enforce order.
