Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Sonego fly to London.

A few minutes from each other they hit the round of 16 at Wimbledon, the third Slam of 2021 underway on the grass fields of the All England Club.

It is the first time in the Open Era that Italy has brought two players to the second round of Wimbledon.

It is the first time since 1955.

For the second consecutive time Matteo Berrettini is in the fourth round on the London meadows.

The 25-year-old Roman, n.9 in the ranking and 7 in the seeding, defeated the Slovenian Aljaz Bedene, n.64 in the ranking by 64 64 64, in an hour and 41 minutes of the game, in the seventh presence in the main draw where he equaled his best result, that third round already achieved in 2017.

Lorenzo Sonego, who has never been so far ahead of Wimbledon, also expresses himself quite well on the lawns. The 25-year-old from Turin, n.27 in the ranking and 23 in the seeding, got rid of the Australian James Duckworth, n.91 in the ranking, 6-3 6-4 6-4 in an hour and 47 minutes of the match.
