According to Tengrinews.kz, the monument is located on the territory of a recently opened park in the capital at the intersection of Alikhan Bokeikhan and Kerey streets, Zhanibek Khandar.
The President of the country Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the ceremony.
Tokayev noted the contribution of Nazarbayev to the formation of the foundations of statehood and the strengthening of the country's international authority.
Earlier, Nazarbayev told Russian leader Vladimir Putin that doctors from Russia saved him from the coronavirus.
