Already today, there are modules with 115 places in use at three institutions - Tillberga, Tygelsjö and Rödjan.

A further 597 module sites are under production at 15 institutions in the country - from Ystad to Haparanda - and are expected to be operational in 2022.

- This type of temporary building has the great advantage that they can be established relatively quickly.

They then have a useful life of 10-15 years based on the temporary building permit that is granted, even if the actual lifespan of the buildings amounts to more than that, says Linda Molinder, project manager at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, in a statement.
