Start the clip to hear more about police vulnerability.

The police profession is a vulnerable profession, in areas where the police have a high presence and disrupt criminal activities, the risks can be greater.

Katharina von Sydow is chairman of the Police Association West and believes that the criminals' attitude towards the police has changed in recent years.

- Those we meet have become more indifferent to other people's lives, a human life does not mean as much anymore and you take greater risks.

Exposure has increased

In a survey conducted by the Swedish Police Confederation, eight out of ten police officers state that they have been exposed to violence or threats of violence.

The union's chairman believes that the threat to police has increased in recent years.

- We have worked intensively to find methods to secure the working environment for police officers, but to prevent everything is not possible.

An important part of securing the everyday life of the police is that there are enough people working in the external service, and more need to be trained as police officers.

Do you think this incident could deter young people from the police profession?

- It can of course be that you think about a little extra, but for us who are already police, it only makes us more determined to be there and safe, and arrest the perpetrator.

I hope that this is the effect that the event will have on those who are thinking about the profession, says Katharina von Sydow.
