• Covid Follow the last hour of the pandemic live

A total of 45 Portuguese councils, including those of Porto and Lisbon, have taken a step back from the increase in covid infections, so that in these regions it will be forbidden to circulate on the streets from today between 23 and 05 hours, measure approved yesterday by the Council of Ministers of Portugal.

"

The situation is serious

", said today the Minister of State and Presidency of Portugal, Mariana Vieira da Silva, in the press conference after the Council of Ministers, although it is not out of control, he added. Of the 278 councils in the country, 19 are at very high risk (more than 240 positives per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days), including Lisbon or Cascais, and 26 at high risk (more than 120), between they Porto, Braga or Faro.

In the 45 councils with the highest incidence,

teleworking is once again compulsory

and cultural shows will close at 10.30 pm. Cafeterias and restaurants will close at 10:30 p.m., although in the 19 very high-risk councils they will close at 3:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays. The relaxation of the measures, the holidays, the great transmission of the delta variant, foreign tourism and football events have favored the spread of the virus in the last month and a half in Portugal, which is why the situation has become complicated, especially in the metropolitan area of Lisbon.

In this sense, Vieira da Silva also advanced that the 18 municipalities of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area will be shielded again during the weekend, from 3:00 p.m. on Friday to 6:00 a.m. on Monday, and no one will be able to enter or leave, except exceptional cases. These are the municipalities of Alcochete, Almada, Amadora, Barreiro, Cascais, Lisbon, Loures, Mafra, Moita, Montijo, Odivelas, Oeiras, Palmela, Seixal, Sesimbra, Setúbal, Sintra and Vila Franca de Xira.

According to the Minister of the Presidency, the incidence at 14 days is 176 throughout the country and the Rt., Which measures the people that each infected person infects, is 1.15. Since the pandemic broke out, Portugal has reported 882,006 infections and 17,101 deaths.

The number of hospitalized continues to rise

, with 509 admitted (five more than yesterday), of which 113 (seven less) are in intensive care.

The Algarve, the most touristic region in the south of the country, continues to increase the incidence, motivated, above all, by cases imported by foreign tourists and festivals.

The vaccine has made it possible for the mortality rate to be much lower than that of the third wave (January-March), since 3,158,425 people, 32.2% of the population, have been vaccinated with the full dose to date.

In addition, 2,254,615 Portuguese have already been inoculated with a dose of the covid vaccine.
