The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has identified three categories of golden residency holders in the country, to obtain work permits, in implementation of a decision issued by the Council of Ministers to create “work permits for holders of long-term residence visas (five or 10 years)”, the first of which is the resident who did not have He worked at the time of obtaining the golden residency, in case he wanted to work for an employer.

The ministry stated that the second category includes the “employer”, who renews the work permit and contract for those holders of golden residency, after the expiry of the period of their work permits, while the third category is the worker with golden residency, who wants to join a new job with another employer, After obtaining the golden residency.

The UAE has implemented the long-term residence visa system, which is automatically renewed when the same conditions are met, for certain categories that include investors, entrepreneurs, and those with specialized talents, to allow residents of the country, foreign expatriates and their families, who wish to come to work, live and study, the possibility to enjoy long-term residency from Without the need for an Emirati sponsor, with a 100% ownership percentage within the emirates of the state, contrary to the custom that requires a local partner, with a share of no less than 51% in business projects, and investment within the emirates of the state.

The ministry confirmed the continuation of the procedures followed by it without any change, regarding the issuance of work permits and contracts for those who are on the residency of their relatives, in the event that they join work on the “work permit for golden residency holders,” pointing to the continued validity of work permits and contracts in force between employers and workers. They were granted golden residencies, as well as the application of all legislation in force in the country to them, especially the provisions of the Labor Law when they joined work with employers in the private sector.

She explained that the conditions for the resident to obtain a work permit have not changed for holders of golden residencies, foremost of which is obtaining a job offer signed by both parties to the work, and that the employee does not have any work permit / work card existing with any other company, Likewise, the employee’s age should not be less than 18 years, and that the work entrusted to the employee is commensurate with the activity of the facility, in addition to the issuance of a certificate of good conduct, noting that the prescribed and applicable fees for issuing work permits for those outside the country will not undergo any change and will remain the same In addition to the application of the same prescribed fees in force to renew and amend work permits and contracts, when renewing or amending the work contract and work permit for golden residency holders.

She also stressed that the legal procedures for the termination or termination of employment contracts will not be covered by any change, stressing that, according to the Law on Regulating Labor Relations, any employee under a fixed-term contract who leaves his work before the end of the period specified in the contract, will violate the payment of a fine from his salary for a maximum of 45 days. At the same time, if the contract is terminated by the employer, he will be fined by paying a salary of three months to the worker.

3 types of work permits

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has clarified that golden residency holders can benefit from three types of internal work permits, the first is a permit to transfer a foreign worker from one facility to another facility, and the second is a temporary work permit under which the worker is employed to perform work whose nature requires a period not exceeding six months (such as work in a temporary project, the period of which does not exceed six months

She pointed out that the third type is a "part-time work permit", under which a worker is employed to do work whose daily hours are less than the normal working hours, for other people working in the same profession (for example, teaching a university teacher at another university for a few hours per week, less than hours). Teachers work at the same university.
