This morning, Tuesday 29 July, the figure shows zero for the number of patients treated for covid-19 in Kronoberg County.

And that was a long time ago.

Not since last spring

- We have probably not had zero since March 2020 when the infection came.

We were down to a few in September but not down to zero as I remember, says Christian Blomkvist.

The trend has been clear in recent weeks with a clear decline in the number of inpatients for the disease.

But despite the positive figure, the infection control doctor urges caution.

"A snapshot"

- It's a snapshot.

Today there were zero reports, but since the spread of infection is still ongoing, that figure can change quickly.

But it is certainly positive that no one right now needs hospital care.

It is three weeks since the last confirmed death with covid-19 was reported in the county and about the same length of time since someone from Kronoberg needed intensive care due to corona.

Concerns about mutations

A cloud of unrest, however, is the delta variant that has spread among students on the Campus area in Växjö.

- The delta variant has affected Kronoberg and when we see how easily it spread among the students.

It is important to be aware of the mutations so that you do not have to keep your distance and stay at home if you are ill, says Christian Blomkvist.
