The American giant Amazon announced Tuesday a new comedy with one of the most popular French actresses, Sophie Marceau, for its Prime Video service, further illustration of the ambitions of the internet giant.

Entitled "I Love America", this comedy will be directed by Lisa Azuelos, who has already shot successful comedies like "My baby" (2018) or "LOL" (2008, with Sophie Marceau precisely), said Amazon.

The film should be released in 2022 "exclusively on Amazon Prime Video", therefore without going through the cinema box in France.

The star revealed at 14 in "The Boom" will play Lisa, a woman who "decides to give herself a new chance in love by leaving Paris for Los Angeles".

She will meet a friend there, Luka (Djanis Bouzyani, seen in particular in Hafsia Herzi's first film, "You deserve a love"), who will register her on a dating application.

"Between embarrassing appointments and unexpected encounters, Lisa will understand that her quest for love is above all a personal quest where she will first have to forgive her mother, the first person she loved", specifies Amazon.

Sophie Marceau, 54, plays the main role of the new François Ozon, in competition at Cannes, "Everything went well": she plays a woman there confronted with the request of her father (André Dussolier) to help her suicide.

Amazon and its competitors are in a race for content, especially French content, to feed their respective streaming platforms.

Her first original French film, "Le bal des folles" by Mélanie Laurent, is due to be uploaded to Prime on September 17th.

Netflix, for its part, has already finished or launched the production of several French films, including the next Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Bigbug) and Dany Boon ("8 rue de l'Humanité") which should be released soon.
