    1. Federal government against stricter entry conditions

    No border closings:

Chancellor Angela Merkel has ruled out further border closings because of the spread of the Delta variant.

Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer (CSU) also rejects stationary border controls, but supports all precautions for a close-knit test strategy for returnees from risk areas.

Anyone entering by plane, train, ship or bus must be able to fill in the digital entry form and be able to present it on request.

The local health authorities could control more strictly decentralized, said a spokesman for the Federal Ministry of the Interior of the FAZ

    Entry requirements:

Merkel contradicted the demands of some prime ministers for stricter entry conditions. When entering Germany, a test is mandatory for all flights. When entering from a high incidence area, proof of vaccination or health history must also be presented. Anyone entering from a risk area must go into quarantine immediately after their return at their own expense. The quarantine period for risk areas is ten days, for virus variant areas it is 14 days. Returnees from risk areas can bypass the quarantine if they submit a negative antigen test to the competent authority. When returning from a high incidence area, testing is only possible five days after entry. When returning from virus variant areas such as Portugal or Russia, there is no wayto be freed up earlier.

    Demand:

According to a report by the British daily The Times, Merkel is calling for a 14-day quarantine for everyone entering the EU from the UK.

Great Britain is currently considered a virus variant area in Germany.

Those who enter the country from there have to adhere to a fortnightly quarantine anyway.

Merkel is supported in her call for the report by French President Emmanuel Macron.

The southern European countries are apparently against an indirect holiday ban because they fear for the income from British holidaymakers.

    2. References to Islamist hate propaganda

The federal government rejects the accusation of reluctance to name possible Islamist backgrounds.

Investigators hope to evaluate cell phones.

    Notes:

According to government spokesman Steffen Seibert, there is apparently "evidence of Islamist hate propaganda" in the perpetrator's apartment.

But there are also signs of psychological problems, according to Seibert.

“One does not have to rule out the other.” Seibert rejected allegations that there was an exaggerated reluctance to name possible Islamist backgrounds.

The Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Hermann said in the FAZ podcast that it must continue to be determined in all directions.

    Findings:

The investigators hope that the analysis of two cell phones of the 24-year-old perpetrator, who comes from Somalia, will provide some information.

Herrmann pointed out that when the ax was attacked in Würzburg five years ago, it was discovered that the perpetrator had contacts with Islamists.
