The former head of the Economic and Fiscal Crime Unit (Udef) José Luis Olivera has given a statement before Judge Manuel García Castellón as an investigated in the context of the summary of the

Kitchen operation

, he has flatly denied his link with the operation to spy the former treasurer of the PP Luis Bárcenas, has attacked the inspector Manuel Morocho, one of the main investigators of the

Gürtel case

, and has explained his relationship with the commissioner José Manuel Villarejo.

"My relationship with the

Kitchen

operation

it is practically zero. I cannot speak about something in which I have not participated, "said this former police high command." I prefer to listen to the recordings in which I appear and then testify on this matter, "he added, after being asked directly by the instructor about the tapes in which he appears talking to Villarejo about the operation to steal sensitive material against the PP from Bárcenas.

He has also been required by the judge for his relationship with his former subordinate, Manuel Morocho, who recently accused him in court of having trying to torpedo the

Gürtel case

to benefit PP. "This matter was investigated by many people, this man attributes a role that he did not have," he said. "The relations with the anti-corruption chief prosecutor or with the judges was my responsibility," he exemplified.

"If a report was made, he had the obligation to hand it over to his superiors and on multiple occasions there were discrepancies. Sometimes we would meet at a round table and Morocho is a very difficult person who believes himself to be in possession of the absolute truth. Many times we We sat at a round table, discussed the reports and warned him that he had to have everything accredited and he could not fail. Morocho did not like that. " "However, most of the reports came out as he said, because he refused to admit any criticism."

Olivera has detailed that he met Villarejo for the first time on the occasion of the operation to arrest the drug trafficker Laureano Oubiña. Within the framework of these investigations, which he called a "priority objective for the State," he argued that Villarejo "provided impressive information." In this context, he explained that the then general commissioner of the Judicial Police explained that Villarejo had a special status and that, despite being part of the structure of the Ministry of the Interior, he had to deal with him "always outside the police station."

"It seemed strange to me but I obeyed because the police are a hierarchical body," he added.

He also indicated that in other large operations such as "Operation Malaya" the National Police resorted to the Villarejo companies to request all the properties of the main defendants, such as Juan Antonio Roca.

"We did it this way because if the properties were requested by the Police directly, they would locate us immediately," he argued.
