The mayor of Nantes Johanna Rolland, also spokesperson for the PS for the presidential election, estimated Monday that Anne Hidalgo had "all the qualities" to represent the Socialists in 2022.
Asked about France Inter on the possible candidacy of the mayor of Paris at the Elysee Palace, Ms. Rolland replied that "Anne obviously has all the qualities to carry this social-ecological project which must be combined with proposals on the economy, on employment ... "
"She has launched an approach which is both based on the territories, what she calls the French team of mayors, and open to civil society. I believe that this approach must have something to do with it, but I will say it again. , in my opinion, in a logic of rallying ", added Johanna Rolland.
Anne Hidalgo said she would make a decision on a possible candidacy probably "in the fall".
In the aftermath of the regional and departmental elections, Johanna Rolland called for the "gathering" of socialists and environmentalists.
"My personal conviction is that the future of the left is to build a collective hope which passes through the gathering. We have experienced this in the municipal elections," she said, recalling that "almost in all big cities the socialists did not win without the ecologists and the ecologists did not win without the socialists ".
