An Iraqi-Jordanian-Egyptian summit affirms cooperation and strategic partnership

Yesterday, the Iraqi-Jordanian-Egyptian tripartite summit concluded in Baghdad, headed by Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Jordanian King Abdullah II, emphasizing tripartite cooperation and strategic partnership.

The summit discussed many files, most notably the tripartite linkage between Iraq, Egypt and Jordan in the fields of land transport and electricity, in addition to economic, security and trade cooperation between the three countries.

In his speech during the tripartite summit, Sisi said: “My presence today in Baghdad is an embodiment of the strength of the relations between our countries and our peoples, as well as our keenness to support and develop these relations towards broader horizons that affirm the unity of purpose and destiny, and meet our common interests.”

The Egyptian president added: "This historic summit hosted by Iraq, which comes as a continuation of what was achieved during the Cairo and Amman summits, we hope that it will truly inaugurate a new phase of strategic partnership and close cooperation between our countries, seeking to launch in the coming years to the stage of sustainable development and prosperity for our peoples." .

He explained that the summit "is a good opportunity to continue consultation and coordination between us on the most important issues of the region, in light of the successive international and regional developments, which require joint cooperation to confront common challenges and dangers."

For his part, Jordan's King Abdullah II called for strengthening the tripartite joint cooperation between Iraq, Jordan and Egypt to achieve common interests. During his meeting with Iraqi President Barham Salih, King Abdullah affirmed Jordan's support for Iraq in maintaining its security and stability, according to a statement by the Iraqi presidency. For his part, the Iraqi president stressed the depth of the bilateral relations that bring together the two neighboring countries and the two brotherly peoples. During the bilateral talks, the two sides stressed the importance of tripartite coordination in order to resolve crises and ease tensions in the region. Saleh tweeted on Twitter, after referring to his reception of the Jordanian monarch and the Egyptian president, saying: "Our relations rooted in history are the basis for a promising future for our peoples and youth; An eloquent message amid daunting regional challenges. Iraq's recovery paves the way for an integrated system for our region, the basis of which is combating extremism, respecting sovereignty and economic partnership.

After the summit ended, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said that the Baghdad summit discussed many issues, stressing standing with Iraq in facing all challenges.

Safadi added, during a tripartite press conference with his Iraqi and Egyptian counterparts, that Iraq must be neutralized from any regional differences, pointing to the great victory achieved by Iraq over terrorism.

For his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said: "We seek with Jordan and Iraq to face challenges," announcing that the fourth Egyptian-Jordanian-Iraqi summit will be held in Cairo.
