South African President Cyril Ramaphosa's announcement that his iPad was stolen, during a press conference in Cape Town, sparked widespread ridicule on social media.

A video circulating from the conference showed Ramaphosa saying, "I had my iPad, do you know where my iPad was taken? This is always a problem with handing over your tools to other people."

"It's usually best to keep all these things with me all the time, I had an iPad, it was in my hand, it's gone and - apparently - I lost it."

Tweeters mocked the South African president's announcement;

They designed the video clip on pieces of music and "memes", at the same time wondering about the identity of the thief.

The shot was taken last Tuesday during the announcement of the establishment of the National Ports Authority "Transnet" as an independent subsidiary, and its general manager said - according to local newspapers - that the device was not stolen, but the president wanted to indicate the length of time to wait in order to bring the iPad, before Start his speech to the media.

President Cyril Ramaphosa's iPad was reportedly stolen during a presser where he was presenting on measures to improve the performance of South Africa's ports.
