THE ESSENTIAL
The outgoing president of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region Alain Rousset came out largely in the lead on the evening of the first round with 28.8%, ahead of RN Edwige Diaz (18.2%) and LREM-MoDem Geneviève Darrieussecq (13.7% ).
In the absence of any agreement, on the right as on the left, five candidates are still in the running for this second round, where we also find Nicolas Thierry (EELV) who achieved 12.08% in the first round, and Nicolas Florian (LR) which had made 12.4%.
Between the two rounds, the situation became particularly tense between Alain Rousset and his former vice president for the environment Nicolas Thierry, who refused the merger of his list with that of the outgoing president, unlike the scenario of 2015 where the FN threat was stronger.
