Last year, 4,538 of 12,907 young people aged 16 to 19 in Gävleborg County had earned income in August, which is 35 percent, in 2019 the corresponding figure was 41 percent.

- In total, 16 to 19-year-olds in Gävleborg County earned around SEK 20.6 million less during the pandemic summer 2020 than in 2019, says Fredrik W Andersson, economist and analyst at Statistics Sweden, in a press release.

According to Statistics Sweden, Ockelbo was the municipality in the county that lost the most summer jobs.

Across Sweden, the number of jobs for 16- to 19-year-olds in the business sector decreased by almost 29,000 in August 2020 compared with August 2019. At the same time, the number of municipal jobs decreased by almost 2,300.
