The fact that the building permit unit in Västerås has a higher pressure is partly due to the fact that many people apply for building permits during spring and summer, but also due to the pandemic.
- We see a certain increase in cases that can possibly be linked to the pandemic, many may have time to tackle small projects at home and apply for a building permit.
But it is also about large and more complex construction projects, says Vesna Kranjec, building permit manager.
Most cases are decided within three to five weeks of their completion, but due to reduced staffing and holiday periods during the summer, there is a risk that it may take longer to receive a response.
- During the summer, the staff on site must focus on the actual handling and this may mean that it may take a little longer to get an answer from us, says Vesna Kranjec.
