The process of constitutional amendment is complicated. A two-thirds majority of the members of the National Assembly must vote in favor, and a referendum is also required. Since it is necessary to persuade both the National Assembly and the people, the will of the president and the next runner as well as the agreement between the ruling and opposition parties is important.

[Park Byeong-seok / Speaker of the National Assembly: Political leaders of the opposition and opposition parties, as well as each political party, express their position on the constitutional amendment and respectfully request that it be evaluated by the people.]

So, we tell the story of what the main opposition presidential candidates think about constitutional amendment. I heard it myself.

Reporter Han Se-hyun will tell you about it.

<Reporter> We

asked 10 presidential candidates from the ruling and opposition parties about the need for constitutional amendment.

Nak-yeon Lee, Sye-kyun Jeong, Yong-jin Park, and Kwang-jae Lee answered that it was 'very necessary', and Jae-myung Lee, Seung-min Yoo, Hee-ryong Won, and Cheol-soo Ahn responded 'necessary'.

Former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol and Rep. Hong Jun-pyo did not respond.

Why do 8 people who agree with the necessity think so?

Except for Rep. Park Yong-jin, who cited the resolution of political, economic and social conflicts as the reason, seven said it was because it had to reflect the reality that has changed since the 1987 revision.

I was also asked what content they thought should be the most important if the constitution were to be amended. Four people - Jeong Se-kyun, Park Yong-jin, Won Hee-ryong, and Ahn Cheol-soo - said that the government should be reorganized and the power structure changed, and Lee Nak-yeon and Yoo Seung-min were asked about the right to life and safety. Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung pointed out the strengthening of basic rights and reform of the political party and election system.

Regarding the form of government, five people, Jae-myung Lee, Se-kyun Jeong, Yong-jin Park, Kwang-jae Lee, and Hee-ryong Won said that the "mixed government" form in which the president and the prime minister jointly run the government, and two people Nak-yeon Lee and Seung-min Yoo said that the current presidential system is preferable.

Ahn Cheol-soo, chairman of the People's Party, has delivered the position that a presidential system with reduced powers is necessary.

Regarding the age limit for running for president, which is defined as the age of 40 or older, all seven people except for three who did not answer themselves said that it should be 'lowered'.

Comparing with the results of the public opinion poll, it showed that, in the case of the necessity of constitutional amendment, the consensus of the ruling and opposition presidential candidates is higher than the public opinion, and the majority of the public opinion is negative, whereas 7 out of 10 runners are positive on the issue of lowering the age to run for president. It was.
