The question of Kalmar's new swimming pool has been supported and soaked for several years.

The latest issue that politicians have decided on was whether to build and run it under their own auspices or rent it from the company Kunskapsporten AB.

On Monday afternoon, a decision was made on the latter alternative.

The Left Party and the Green Party were against the rental alternative, while other parties were in favor.

Costs 29 million a year

The cost for the municipality lands at just under SEK 29 million per year and the agreement is valid for 35 years.

The municipality has calculated the cost of rent compared to building and operating themselves, and the calculations show that over the entire contract period there will be an additional cost of about 90 million - compared to if you built yourself.

Construction is expected to start sometime in 2022, and the new swimming pool is expected to be completed in early 2025.
