Catalonia Two bathers drowned in Girona and Tarragona die
Two bathers, a man and a woman, drowned today in
Cala Rajá
, in the natural park of
Cabo de Gata-Níjar
(Almería).
Sources from the Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue have informed Efe that around 15:10 hours 112 has reported a warning about two semi-drowned people hooked on the rocks in said cove.
An ambulance from the 061 and Civil Protection of Níjar has come to the place, shortly afterwards the Civil Guard sent a patrol by land.
A little later, at about 3:48 p.m.,
the Armed Institute confirmed to Salvamento Marítimo that the bodies of two deceased were found in the water
, then the helicopter 'Helimer 215' was mobilized, which has taken members of the Special Group to the place Underwater Activities (GEAS), although other members of that unit have reached the aforementioned point in a boat.
The deceased are, according to sources close to the case,
of Lithuanian origin, wife and friend of a man who was out of the water
when the events took place.
At the moment, the GEAS boat remains in place with the support of the Maritime Rescue helicopter, although the Civil Guard has insisted that
the search for the bodies is proving "difficult"
due to the bad weather in the area.
