Their run lasted about ten hours.

The two inmates of the Moulins-Yzeure (Allier) prison, wanted since Saturday afternoon, were arrested overnight from Saturday to Sunday in Chazelles-sur-Lyon (Loire).

Their escape was original, to say the least, since they were returning from the final tests of a culinary competition organized at the Paul Bocuse Institute in Ecully (Rhône), when they lost company to their companions from the prison integration service and probation (SPIP).

They had "taken advantage of a stop at the toilets on a motorway rest area in Néronde (Loire), on the edge of the A89, to steal a car and flee on board", explains Abdelkrim Grini, public prosecutor. Republic of Roanne.

"They were sleeping inside the stolen Peugeot 207"

The two men benefited from a leave of absence until 8 p.m. from the sentencing judge of Moulins who follows them, as part of the preparation for their professional reintegration.

The two fugitives were placed around 3:30 am in police custody at the gendarmerie brigade of Saint-Galmier (Loire).

At the time of their arrest, "they were sleeping inside the stolen Peugeot 207 while the owner had left the keys on the dashboard", specifies the head of the Roanne public prosecutor's office.

Presented as "two common criminals, aged in their twenties and released in 2022 and 2023", "they will have to answer for the facts of escape and theft in a meeting", indicates Abdelkrim Grini.
