The French women's rugby sevens team landed the last ticket for the Tokyo Games (July 23 - August 8) by winning a decisive match in front of Hong Kong (51-0) on Sunday during the Monaco repechage tournament.

This will be the second participation of the Bleues in the Olympics after those of 2016 in Rio, where they finished in sixth place.

To accompany them to the Games, the French septists must win the final of the men's repechage tournament against Ireland (7:07 p.m.) at the Louis-II stadium.

On the Rock, the French have achieved a faultless, signing five broad wins in as many games, without conceding a single point.

Against the Hong Kong women, whom they had already outclassed in the group stage, they scored nine tries, with triplets from Anne-Cécile Ciofani and Lina Guérin.

Their clear domination during the group stage allowed them to avoid Russia, during the cleaver matches, another great contender for qualification for the Olympics.

Before the ultimate success of Fanny Horta and her partners, Russia also pocketed the other ticket for Tokyo by dominating Kazakhstan (38-0).

Russia and France thus join the ten other teams already qualified for the women's tournament which will be held over three days, from July 29 to 31, at Tokyo Stadium: Japan (host country), Great Britain, China, Fiji, Kenya, Brazil, New Zealand, United States, Canada and Australia.

In 2016, for the first edition of the Olympic Sevens Rugby Tournament, Australia won gold, New Zealand silver and Canada bronze.
