Until the land is overdrawn to the limit, the social order will collapse with it.

　　As the saying goes, "One rice helps the world, ten thousand families have enough food." In modern Chinese history, the three words "Yuan Longping" are undoubtedly the most important and their significance is self-evident.

Yuan Longping is also a representative of the vast number of agricultural scientists who have roots in the motherland.

In this life, my husband has only worked for rice, dedicated his life to solving the food and clothing of the people, and has also become a legend in the fragrance of rice. He can be called the "big man" and the backbone of the country for the people!

　　Over the years, we have become accustomed to him being there all the time, so much so that we forget that this "father of hybrid rice" will get old, get sick, and leave.

On May 22, 2021, Mr. Yuan Longping passed away in Changsha, and the whole country fell in love!

　　Pay tribute to his dedication to dreams and persistence to his original intention

　　He devoted his entire life to the research, application and promotion of hybrid rice technology, dedicated to scientific research, and fought hard on the front line of farmland, "As long as there is rice in the field, I will go to the field every day."

In the year of the mackerel, his husband was still tirelessly exploring and working in the "dream of enjoying the coolness under the grass" and the "dream of covering the world with hybrid rice". Just 11 days before his death, his rice broke the record in Sanya.

　　The husband has been walking on the road of chasing dreams, using the most ordinary rice to save the land from starvation.

He dedicated his life to the great dream of "rice grows as high as sorghum, ears as long as a broom, and grains as big as peanuts" in his youth.

Now, Mr.'s "Hybrid Rice Covering the Global Dream" is gradually being realized, and India, Vietnam, the Philippines, the United States, Brazil and other countries are all planting them on a large scale.

He always upholds the noble demeanor of down-to-earth writing scientific and technological papers on the land of the motherland, putting the fate of the motherland and the welfare of the people first, taking the needs of the motherland and the people as his own responsibility, and dedicating the motherland and the people as the goal, and he has devoted his life to ploughing the fields. In 1966, Yuan Longping's first paper "Male Sterility in Rice" was published in "Science Bulletin".

Since then, he has closely linked his fate with the fate of food.

This landmark paper is considered to be the pioneering work of hybrid rice, which opened up the idea and thinking of hybrid rice breeding in my country.

In 2016, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the publication of the paper, as the editor-in-chief of the "Science Bulletin", I had the honor to visit Mr. Yuan Longping in Changsha, and published a titled "Fifty Years of Glory, "Top of the Sky" Science and "Achievements of the Site"" Byline article.

The tenacity and calmness shown by the gentleman for seeking truth and truth, the courage and confidence shown for overcoming scientific problems, and the pursuit and vigor shown for serving society and benefiting mankind are still emerging...

　　Over the years, in the face of technical difficulties and clamors from the outside world, Mr. is fearless, with the innovative spirit of advancing with the times and bravely climbing peaks, and the strong will to defy hardships and perseverance, and always practice to let the Chinese "satisfy" The belief that the people of the world can "eat their food" demonstrates the most powerful sense of responsibility and mission of a scientist.

He used field ridges as paper and hoes as pens, and used rice ears as the most beautiful words to write papers on the land of the motherland. This spirit will continue to lead countless scientific research workers to open up wasteland and become a ladder.
