Renovación Espadas undertakes changes in the Andalusian PSOE with the unknown of a possible resignation of Susana Díaz
Relay Ferraz organizes his landing in Andalusia after defeating Susana Díaz
With
municipalism
and the 40th Federal Congress as a backdrop, Pedro Sánchez's PSOE has staged this Saturday his landing in the Andalusian PSOE after the defeat, exactly one week ago, of the still secretary general and former president of the Board, Susana Diaz.
A good part of the Ferraz dome, with the number three of the party, José Luis Ábalos, at the head together with the Minister of Finance and government spokesperson, María Jesús Montero, has supported the winner of the primaries, Juan Espadas. The secretary of Institutional Relations of the PSOE, Alfonso Rodríguez Gómez de Celis, the spokesperson in the Madrid Assembly, Hana Jalloul, the MEP Lina Gálvez and a large representation of mayors -such as Dos Hermanas, Francisco Toscano- and provincial secretaries of the party , like the one from Jaén, Francisco Reyes, have gathered in Sevlla this Sunday. With this act, Espadas has been consecrated as the virtual new leader of Andalusian socialism, who is now embarking on a
new stage
in total harmony with the federal leadership and in the shadow of Pedro Sánchez, who is the great winner of this internal process that he himself precipitated by advancing a vote that was not scheduled until the end of the year.
And although Susana Díaz is still, formally, the general secretary of the Socialist Party in Andalusia, Espadas has made it clear that she has already taken
command
of the formation and that she does not plan to wait a minute to make decisions and address internal changes.
So much so that he has announced that in the next few days he will
meet
with the president of the Board, Juanma Moreno, in his role as virtual new leader of the main opposition party.
Espadas has officially started the
pre-campaign
for the Andalusian elections - for which there is no date and that will be at the end of 2022 - and has called for the mobilization of the entire party to begin to "regain the confidence" that the traditional voters of the PSOE - those who kept him in power for 37 years - after making a diagnosis of why they withdrew their support in the last elections.
This coming week, Espadas has emphasized, a "new stage" begins in the Andalusian PSOE that will take place both in changes in the names and strategies of the parliamentary group and in that of the entire party,
in line
with the federal PSOE and with the government of Pedro Sánchez.
"We have to work together", has insisted Espadas, who has proclaimed his
loyalty
to Sánchez by promising "a commitment and unfailing support to the Government of Spain" of Andalusian socialism.
They are over, he has come to say, the times of tension between Ferraz and the leadership of the Andalusian PSOE, which is thus definitely aligned with Sánchez and with his project.
These primaries, stressed the socialist candidate for the Junta, have been a
"great success"
that will make it possible to reach the final goal, "which is none other than reaching San Telmo."
The Secretary of Organization of the PSOE, José Luis Ábalos, has shown himself convinced, in fact, that "we are going to finish solving what we have left" and has encouraged the Andalusian PSOE to
mobilize
because "to regain the confidence of the Andalusians it remains still a lot of work ", while calling for party unity" once the leadership issue is resolved. "
It has also revealed the
express support
of the federal leadership and the Government for Espadas.
"You know that you can count on us, we are in the same way and we will move forward together," Ábalos told the winner of the Andalusian primaries, whom he demanded to be especially concerned about achieving "successes" since "the rest will come." and the great success, he has pointed out, is to regain power in the community.
The act is, in addition to an accolade to Espadas, an undisguised
push
to Susana Díaz to leave the General Secretariat of the Andalusian PSOE once and for all and cease all resistance to the takeover of the party by the mayor of Seville and his team.
Although Ferraz has ruled out the route of force and the imposition of a
manager
- he does not want what happened with Tomás Gómez in Madrid to be repeated - the gestures and messages are clear and Sánchez's team has made it clear that they do not want any kind of bicephaly and that he does not want Díaz entrenched in the headquarters on San Vicente Street, no matter how much she has shown herself willing to collaborate fully with the candidate for the Junta.
In this sense, Espadas himself is
negotiating
with the former president the changes in the party and his own destiny in discreet meetings, such as the one that was held this Friday and that will lead to a new organization chart in the socialist parliamentary group, which was the priority of the mayor of Seville.
Once the regional executive ratifies it, the
susanista
José Fiscal will cease to be the PSOE spokesman in the Andalusian Parliament to be replaced by
Angeles Ferriz
, one of the close collaborators of Espadas in the primary campaign.
The departure of Díaz is, therefore, pending to be addressed in a future meeting and among the options being considered, the one that seems most likely is his appointment as
senator
for Andalusia.
