"We have imposed sanctions against Russia for the poisoning of Alexei Navalny ... We are preparing another package of sanctions to apply it in this case," he told CNN.

His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

On January 17, 2021, Navalny was detained at Sheremetyevo airport after returning to Russia from Germany.

The FPS stated that the reason for the detention was multiple violations of the conditions of the probationary period.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, after a meeting with American leader Biden in Geneva, noted that Navalny knew that he was violating the law in force in Russia, and was obliged to register as a person who was twice sentenced to suspended sentences.

He also stated that Navalny deliberately went to be detained.
