Unfortunately, this is not a surprise.
The turnout in the first round of regional and departmental elections stood at 26.72% this Sunday at 5 p.m. in mainland France, in free fall compared to the regional elections of December 2015 (43.01%) and departmental elections of March 2015 (42 , 75%), according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior.
This collapse of the mobilization should lead to a record of abstention for a first round of regional which had reached its highest in 2010 with 53.67%.
The turnout was already down by midday with a turnout of 12.22%.
