France: the dismissed and the unemployed demonstrate in Paris

Several hundred unemployed and redundant workers demonstrated in Paris between the employers' headquarters, the Medef and the Hotel Matignon, the seat of government.

At the call of some sixty organizations, unions, collectives and political parties, they denounce the proliferation of social plans, more than 1,000 in France between March 2020 and May 2021. They also demand a law preventing companies with aid to make layoffs.

While the French economy is in the process of restarting, the employees who are victims of the pandemic do not intend to remain silent and demand the State to account.

We expect the state to stop stuffing all these public companies with public funds while all these companies are making a profit and laying off people.

It's no more complicated than that,

 ”analyzes Jaffar, who was employed by the German tour operator Tui.

Tui laid off 600 of its 900 employees in France and more than 8,000 worldwide.

The Tui, as they call themselves, are at the initiative of this mobilization, the second since January.

They will all lose their jobs next December, their American owner having decided to relocate.
