DRC takes new restrictive measures against Covid-19

Hospitals crowded with patients and successive peaks of new cases in the DRC, the “3rd wave of Covid-19” worries the political and health authorities.

At the end of the Council of Ministers meeting on Friday June 18 around the President and the Prime Minister by videoconference, new restrictions were adopted.

No confinement, but the measures are strong and affect all social layers;

some economic activities will be completely stopped.

Bars, terraces, discotheques and nightclubs must close because they are considered to be vectors of contamination. However, restaurants are allowed to operate, but only until 9:00 p.m. and with a capacity not exceeding 50%. Percentage also imposed on churches "

", but also on the public administration, as well as on private companies. They remain open, but with the same capacity: 50%. The authorities are even encouraging the use of teleworking.

Funeral vigils in funeral homes or at home are also prohibited.

The mortal remains will be taken directly from the morgue to the place of burial in a small committee.

In public transport, only 50% of the capacity will be tolerated.

Motorcycle taxis are only allowed to take one passenger.

Other measures hit the headlines.

Such as maintaining the curfew from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. and prohibiting sales on public roads;

street vendors are now forced to work inside markets.
