On Saturday, the temperature is expected to be even higher than yesterday, which complicates the circumstances for the rescue service.

The fire has taken on a narrow oblong shape through strong wine.

It is estimated to cover an area of just over 125 hectares.

- It is about as big as 200 football pitches, says Johan Woxö to SVT.

During Saturday, the rescue service had eight helicopters in shuttle traffic to fight the fire.

- It will be warmer than yesterday, and then the fire risk values will rise, says Johan Woxö.

Successful fight on Saturday: "The lines seem to hold"

At lunchtime on Saturday, the rescue service was cautiously positive even though the fire is not completely under control.

- The boundary lines seem to hold, with good help from the helicopters.

But we are not around the fire yet, says Johan Woxö.

Are there any fears that you may lose control?

- The risk is that it starts to inflate and that it starts to stick away from us.

But without promising too much, there are currently good conditions to limit it.

No need to evacuate

At present, it is not time to evacuate nearby houses.

- As long as we keep the northern boundary line, we see no reason to evacuate, says Johan Woxö.

The rescue service also sends out a call to holidaymakers.

- We understand that people are free and want to enjoy holidays.

But imagine so that no fumbles or glasses end up on the ground.

Glass shards in sunshine can ignite spontaneously in this heat.

Neighbors feel the smell of smoke

One of those who lives not too far from the fire is Mönsterås opposition councilor Robert Rapakko (S).

He describes how he smelled smoke in the residential area since the fire started on Friday.

- Of course it feels a bit like that to go to bed with the smell of smoke outside and know that it burns relatively close.

But the wind is blowing away from the houses here and towards the forest now at least, says Robert Rapakko.
