A truck carrying military and police forces exploded in Yangon, Myanmar's largest city, where a military coup took place, killing casualties.

According to local media reports, a military truck parked on the street in Tamwe-gu, Yangon exploded at around 3 pm local time yesterday (18th).

Witnesses at the scene said, "Soldiers were in a truck at the time of the explosion, and the vehicle was engulfed in red flames with the sound of the explosion."

The exact number of casualties is not yet known, but local media reported that six soldiers were in the truck at the time, citing eyewitnesses.

"Someone threw a bomb at the truck from inside the taxi," said one resident who witnessed the scene.

In addition, local media reported that the explosion occurred when cars stopped at a stop sign at an intersection around a nearby market within minutes of the explosion.

Some local media reported that two people were killed, one person each, and five soldiers and a taxi driver were injured in the explosion of a military truck and an explosion at an intersection.

The explosion, aimed at a military truck, is the most powerful attack against the military and police in Yangon since the coup d'état in February.
