The New York Post and other local media reported that a four-year-old girl in the United States died after being punished by her mother for standing all day for three days for not having a bowel movement.

Malika Bennett, 31, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was arrested by police last year on charges of abusing and killing her daughter Merjelic Young.

Their daughter, Merjelic, has not been seen since last summer, but was found dead at the end of last month, buried in her backyard.

The arrest warrant shows that his daughter, Merjelic Young, has died since August last year, when she was corporal punishment for standing in the laundry room for three days.

This fact of corporal punishment was revealed by the testimony of the deceased's 13-year-old sister.

Young's sister told the police that her mother had her sister stand still without sitting or resting for three days, and eventually, exhausted, she fell backward and hit her head on the floor.

Mother Bennett tried CPR, but the child was never revived. Bennett is accused of putting the body in a plastic bag and putting it in the trunk of a car, then burying it in the backyard a few days later.

Bennett is said to be imprisoned in Mecklenburg County Jail and has yet to file an answer in court.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department's Brian Crumb said: "I've dealt with a lot of murders over the last 10 years, but this one is really shocking.
