June 19, 2021 The Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, today sent a request for a formal opinion to the Technical-Scientific Committee "regarding the modalities and terms of the permanence of the obligation to wear respiratory protective devices outdoors". This was announced by the ministry.

The debate on the timing to stop this measure relating to respiratory protective devices not in closed contexts has been ongoing for days, and has been heated after France has already chosen to eliminate the obligation.

Locatelli: "From mid-July via outdoor masks

A new lockdown "is highly unlikely. All the decisions were made in order not to expose us to the risk of having to close. The vaccination campaign makes the difference" and to remove the mask "I think we will be able to talk about it in the second half of July, eliminating the obligation only outdoors, or even indoors between vaccinated people and not subject to 'frailty' ". The coordinator of the CTS and president of the Higher Health Council, Franco Locatelli, said this on May 24 in an interview with La Stampa.
