The tours around the closure of nursing homes in Misterhult have been many and aroused a lot of emotions in Oskarshamn municipality.

A protest list collected over 2,300 names, which would be enough to demand a referendum on the issue.

But the municipal director and lawyers judged that only a tenth of the names were valid.

Administrative law gives residents the right

But the case was appealed to the Administrative Court, which now gives the municipal residents the right.

The name lists were valid.

The message from the court reached the initiator yesterday.

- We have had a great hope and put in a lot of time so I feel a great gratitude and think of all those who believed in us who pushed this.

We gathered yesterday and celebrated with non-alcoholic bubbly and hoisted the Misterhult flag, says Eva Holm.

Referendum before the turn of the year

According to the Barometer, the chairman of the municipal board, Andreas Erlandsson (S), is surprised that the name lists have been judged to be valid.

He expects a referendum on the issue before the turn of the year.

- Now the law has had its say and we must comply with it, Erlandsson tells the newspaper.

- We have had the right on our side so the municipality lost, says Eva Holm who now hopes that the nursing homes in Misterhult can be reopened.
