Some employees have chosen to quit since the municipality introduced more and shorter work shifts while increasing the number of hours worked per week.

"Would be better"

- The idea has been that it will get better.

That it is better with short shifts because you get tired when you work long shifts.

Some of our employees have not been so happy with this change.

But we work all the time together with the union to get the best schedules for our employees as possible, says Suvi Järvinen Valo, social manager in Haparanda municipality.

"We need to get more hours out"

Politicians have also decided to reduce the reduction of working hours in elderly care, from a 32-hour working week to 37, in the municipality.

- We needed to get more hours out to get a good business, but have still chosen to keep a certain reduction in working hours, says Janne Lind (C), chairman of the social committee in Haparanda.
