Reconstruction work was due to start in a few weeks ... A building on rue Planterose in the Saint-Michel district in Bordeaux collapsed on itself Wednesday.

Fortunately the building had been unoccupied for a while and the collapse caused no injuries.

The adjoining houses had been evacuated as a precaution on June 7, the order of imminent danger having been issued a few days before, on June 3.

An initial project that dragged on

The lessor Incited, whose role is to take charge of the aging heritage of the city, bought the building considered unsanitary in 2015. He sold it to a private owner who had undertaken to carry out reconstruction work. complete but the years have passed without the work starting.

Incité therefore decided to buy the building in September 2019 to develop a six-unit project, delayed by the health crisis.

The work was due to start in the coming weeks.

The building in question and the adjoining dwellings had been secured.

Two peril decrees were issued concerning buildings on the same street which are private property.
