The State Department announced the position of the United States on "Nord Stream - 2"

This is stated in a message on the website of the US Department of State. 

"The First Deputy Secretary of State stressed the importance of Europe's energy security, confirming that the United States opposes the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline," the State Department said.

Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that on the sidelines of the G7 summit she briefly discussed the topic of "Nord Stream 2" with US President Joe Biden.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas noted that the introduction of new US sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 project cannot be ruled out.
