18 June 2021 Faced with the coldness of the Democratic administration which has so far given no signs of wanting to make concessions to North Korea, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un returns to make himself heard in the media.

"North Korea must be ready for both dialogue and confrontation with the US, and in particular confrontation, to defend national dignity": Kim said before the central committee of the Labor Party where he illustrated "the political tendencies" of the new American administration.

Kim Jong-un paved the way to defend "the dignity, interests and security" of the country, the official KCNA news agency reported.

The 37-year-old North Korean leader urged "to adapt promptly and acutely to a rapidly changing environment by concentrating efforts on maintaining stable control over the Korean peninsula". Pyongyang has already accused Biden of pursuing "a hostile policy and called" a big mistake "his claim that he wanted to counter the North Korean nuclear program" with diplomacy and harsh deterrence. "In 2019 the North had argued that Biden should be" beaten " to death".

The current US president had warned that he is unwilling to reunite with Kim, as his predecessor Donald Trump did, unless there is a concrete plan to negotiate on the North Korean nuclear arsenal. The White House claims it wants to pursue "a calibrated and practical approach" with Pyongyang which has carried out six atomic tests since 2006.
