In the past ten years, which cities have the largest increase in population?
CBN reporters combed through the seven-person population data released by various regions and found that since 2010, the permanent population of 32 cities has increased by more than 1 million, and the total population increase of these 32 cities has reached 69.99 million.
Among them, there are 20 in the east coast and 12 in the central and western regions.
Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Xi'an, Zhengzhou, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Changsha, Wuhan and Foshan have become the top ten cities with the largest population growth.
Over a million people in 32 cities
In terms of provinces, these 32 cities are distributed in 20 provinces.
Guangdong has the most, with six seats, namely Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Huizhou and Zhongshan.
These 6 cities are all located in the developed areas of the Pearl River Delta.
Among them, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Foshan are among the top ten cities in terms of population increase in the country.
The population of Guangdong, the largest economic province, has increased by 21.709 million in the past ten years, which is far ahead of the country, with a total population of 126 million.
Since it surpassed Henan for the first time to become the most populous province in 2007, Guangdong's population has ranked first in the country for 14 consecutive years.
Data show that Guangdong has a total floating population of 52,066,200.
Among the floating population, the inflow population from other provinces was 29.622 million, and the floating population in the province was 22.44 million.
Given the influx of large numbers of people, Guangdong's demographic dividend is still more prominent.
After Guangdong, Zhejiang, the fourth largest economic province, and Jiangsu, the second largest economic province, have three cities each with a population increase of more than 1 million in ten years.
Among them, the three cities in Zhejiang are Hangzhou, Ningbo and Jinhua.
Although Hangzhou’s population increase is not as prominent as in some central and western capital cities such as Xi’an and Chengdu, Hangzhou still has 3.2356 million in ten years, given that there are planned separate cities in the province such as Ningbo and Jinhua, a major e-commerce city. The three cities in Jiangsu are Suzhou, Nanjing and Wuxi.

Nanjing’s ten-year population increase was 1.31 million, and the current total population is 9,314,700. It is the only city with a permanent population of less than 10 million among the top ten cities in my country’s economic aggregate.
Fujian, Shandong and Hebei each have two cities with population growth exceeding 1 million in ten years.

8 ordinary prefecture-level cities are outstanding
From the perspective of city categories, of the 32 cities, municipalities directly under the Central Government, provincial capital cities, and cities specifically designated in the state plan account for three-quarters, while there are only 8 ordinary prefecture-level cities, namely Foshan, Dongguan, Huizhou, Zhongshan, Jinhua, Suzhou, Wuxi and Langfang is all located in the eastern coastal area.
In other words, in the central and western regions, all cities with population growth exceeding one million in ten years are provincial capitals or municipalities directly under the Central Government.
These 8 ordinary prefecture-level cities are located in the three major economic circles.
Among them, the Pearl River Delta occupies half, and there are 4 in Foshan, Dongguan, Huizhou and Zhongshan.
On the one hand, these cities themselves have very developed industries; on the other hand, the spillover effects of first-tier cities, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, have been obvious in recent years.

Among these ten major cities, 4 are in the east and 6 are in the Midwest.
