“If you are now in large regions, constituent entities of the Russian Federation, even 2 weeks ago, until decisions on certain restrictions were made, to find a person with a mask, well, now it’s a big problem,” RIA Novosti Maksyutov quotes.

He stated that "many people relaxed and felt that this was an issue that was off the agenda, but the virus reminded that it was not."

“That is, if all the precautions that were prescribed almost a year and a half ago were observed, and without any changes and relaxation, then we would not see any additional surges in morbidity now,” Maksyutov said.

According to him, this is "a matter of exclusively violation of those norms that are prescribed and which are required to be observed."

According to data as of June 17, another 14,057 patients with coronavirus infection were identified in Russia per day.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 5,264,047.
