- I absolutely think that we have good conditions in the education to learn about culture in general, but we are not talking about racism, says Kevin Stenberg, a nursing student at the University of Gävle.

Criticism of education

Through various social forums, students in various care professions have criticized educations in Sweden because the focus is on white skin.

For example, the dolls they work with are white.

Freesia Montenegro does not see how it could be interpreted as racism.

- I absolutely believe that it is a cost issue.

If you could afford to buy dolls in all sorts of colors, you would have done it, she says.

Have been exposed to racism before

Both Kevin and Fresia have previously been exposed to racism when they worked in healthcare.

- One patient says to his friend: "Look, we have those up there where I also live" and points at me.

I did not get sad.

These are patients and based on my profession, I will help everyone, regardless of what their opinion and values are, says Kevin Stenberg.
