To encourage women to advance into politics, the Liberal Democratic Party's special committee has put together a recommendation to raise the proportion of women in the candidates to 35% by 2030.

The Liberal Democratic Party's Special Committee for Promotion of Women's Advancement examined specific goals for increasing the number of female candidates, considering that the percentage of female members of the Diet is only about 10%, and on the 17th. I summarized the recommendations at the meeting.

It calls for a statement in the party's pledge with the goal of raising the proportion of women in the candidates to 35% by 2030, and for formulating a schedule for its realization.

The special committee was considering raising the percentage of female candidates in the next House of Representatives election to 15% as of April, but from within the party, "it should be a feasible goal setting." Because of the cautious opinion, we decided to delete the numerical target for the next House of Representatives election.

Former Minister of Justice Mori, who chairs the committee, told reporters, "It is a big step for the LDP, the largest political party, to put together a proposal for numerical targets. I will do my best to be included in the party's pledge."

The special committee will soon make a proposal to the chairman of the political investigation, Shimomura.
