China News Service, Fuzhou, June 17 (Reporter Yan Xu) A cross-strait music festival where live performances and online live broadcasts are carried out simultaneously, bringing a three-hour cloud music carnival to young music fans on both sides of the strait.

  Taiwanese youth Zhang Zhaorui, who served as the host of live performances at the Fuzhou Weimei Cultural and Creative Village, said that he hopes to create a cross-strait music exchange platform to allow cross-strait youth bands to collide with different styles of music and also help Taiwanese musicians to land in the "first home".

  On the evening of the 16th, hosted by the Taiwan Youth Experiential Exchange Center·Wemeike Cultural and Creative Community, guided by the new social class association in Gulou District, Fuzhou, and cooperated with Taiwan Global Chinese Art and Culture Development Association 2021 Strait Echo·Taiwan Original Music Landing It is planned to sing simultaneously in the live broadcast room of Weimeike Cultural and Creative Village in Fuzhou and on Taiwanese social media.

  That night, four youth bands of different styles from both sides of the strait presented wonderful performances.

The Xiamen Seaside Street Band expresses the thinking of contemporary youth with classic guitar arrangements and casual singing. The Fuzhou local double-sided mirror band is characterized by time, space and distance, looking for the dawn of music through life.

  The Wuhong Fogbow band from Kaohsiung, Taiwan was founded in the spring of 2013. The members of the band said that they did not have too much "packaged", but in a DIY spirit to convey the most sincere and direct music.

The Squid Gentleman Band from Tainan combines post-punk and blues with black humor and tells stories about fantasy adventures.

  The festival also specially invited 18 students from Fujian Normal University, Fuzhou University and other universities in Rongtai to participate.

"We are usually fans of aesthetics," said You Shuping, a Taiwanese student at Fuzhou University. "We can hear familiar Taiwanese original music in Fuzhou, and I feel warm and moved."

  In June 2020, Weimeike Cultural and Creative Village planned for the first time to hold the "Strait Echo" online music festival, which crossed the strait and opened simultaneously online and offline. This not only allowed mainland music fans to experience the unique charm of Taiwan’s original music, but also brought the mainland to the mainland for the first time. The new generation of bands and music works presented to Taiwanese music fans, forming a benign interaction mode between music fans and bands on both sides of the strait.

  As a professional performance space jointly created by many young musicians from both sides of the strait, Weimeike Cultural and Creative Village has gradually become an important platform for Taiwan's young musicians to perform in Fujian in recent years, hosting more than 50 special performances by Taiwanese bands.

These include the best newcomer "Eggplant Egg" band at the 29th Taiwan Golden Melody Awards, and the best singing group "Naughty MJ116" at the 29th Taiwan Golden Melody Awards.

  Zhang Zhaorui said that although the epidemic has suspended offline performances based on cross-strait music exchanges, he hopes that the holding and exploration of online music festivals can open up a new career development line and create more economic benefits for young Taiwanese musicians in a special period. It will also further deepen cross-strait exchanges and cooperation in the music and cultural industries.
