US President Biden and Russian President Putin held their first summit meeting. There was a sharp nervous battle right before the meeting, such as describing Putin as a 'murderer', but after the meeting, both of them expressed satisfaction, saying that it was a positive meeting.

Russian President Putin, who has been tardy for every summit, arrived at the meeting place 15 minutes earlier than US President Biden this time.

The two leaders shook hands and held talks for three and a half hours at their old house in Geneva, Switzerland.

It is said that the atmosphere of the meeting was friendly, unlike the rough off-site battles that accuse Putin of a murderer and counter-attack until just before the meeting.

[Putin/President of Russia: Overall, there was no hostility. On the contrary, the talks proceeded constructively.]

First, the two countries agreed to start new negotiations to replace the New Strategic Arms Reduction Pact, the US-

U.S.

Nuclear Control Treaty, which will expire in five years.

As conflicts escalated due to Russia's interference in the US presidential election and hacking allegations, the ambassadors from both countries decided to return soon.

Although opinions were still divided on the issue of oppression of Russian opposition activist Navalny, President Biden also evaluated the results of the talks positively.

[Biden/President of the United States: I think there is a prospect that can significantly improve the relationship between the two countries without going against the values and principles of the United States.]

President Biden said the next few months will be the test bed to see if the talks will actually lead to progress in bilateral relations.
