Need a digital vaccination certificate?

Many vaccinated people answer this question in the affirmative.

Pharmacies, for example, issue the certificates with QR codes.

They report not only of brisk demand - but also of an overloaded server from time to time.

When in doubt, pharmacies and customers alike require a lot of patience.

There can also be a curious technical difficulty.

When trying to scan the QR codes using the Corona warning app and upload the digital vaccination pass, the application refused to work.

"Invalid code," she announced.

"I've never had that before," said the perplexed pharmacist.

Her advice: "Try the Covpass app." Then it worked right away.

What the digital vaccination certificate is all about and why it is issued can be found here.

In the meantime, there is largely positive news about the infection process in Hesse.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports significantly fewer new corona cases than a week ago.

The incidence as a key indicator continues to decline, with only Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria and Saarland having more new infections among 100,000 inhabitants recorded within a week.

In Hesse, the incidence is almost four times as high as that of the front-runner Mecklenburg-Pomerania.

However, four Hessian regions have a lower index than this northern state.

Front runner Vogelsberg is approaching the zero line.

State capital follows the Frankfurt model

Wiesbaden is one of the Hessian regions with a comparatively higher incidence of a good 23, while the average in Hesse is just under 14. But the city is relaxing the mask requirement outdoors. From this Monday on, mouth and nose protection will no longer have to be worn in the city center in the pedestrian zone and on the station forecourt if the minimum distance of 1.5 meters is maintained, the Hessian state capital announced on Thursday. In local public transport, at stops and at the weekly market, however, the mask requirement still applies. A few days ago, Frankfurt also lifted the mask requirement in the city center - under the condition that the minimum distance can be observed.

The RKI reports 127 new cases for Hesse after 291 a week ago and almost 800 a month ago. Within four weeks the incidence slipped from 50 to exactly 13.6. Since the beginning of the pandemic in March of last year, 289,817 people in Hesse have officially been infected with the coronavirus that causes Covid-19. Almost the entire Corona map shines in rapeseed yellow with code numbers below 35. Only the Groß-Gerau district is just above it and is colored orange. The Vogelsberg has an incidence of 1.9. The second best is the Hochtaunus with 3.0.

Twelve more deaths related to the pandemic are to be mourned, five more than reported a week ago.

Since last March, 7,460 people have officially died of or with Covid-19 in Hesse.

According to the German Association for Intensive and Emergency Medicine, 118 people were recently treated for Covid-19 in the Hessian intensive care units.

    67 of them had to be ventilated invasively;

a number of other corona sufferers receive additional oxygen, for example through a mask.

48.7 percent of the Hessians with the first vaccination

After an intermediate spurt, Hessen is losing ground again in vaccination compared to the federal government: 48.7 percent of people in Hessen have so far received a first vaccination against the coronavirus. Hessen is now 0.2 points below the federal average. The front runner is Bremen with 51.7 - Rhineland-Palatinate comes in at 48.6. In the case of the fully vaccinated, Hesse lags more clearly behind the federal mean. Hessen has 25.3 percent, which is 2.3 percentage points below the average. A good 3.06 million people in Hessen are vaccinated at least once.

Resident doctors and staff have so far administered more than 1.4 vaccinations, as the Ministry of Social Affairs has announced. Since the beginning of April, the general practitioners' practices in Hesse have also been vaccinated against Covid-19, a little later the specialist practices and, since June 7th, the company doctors have been added. "Now it is important not to let up: get vaccinated as soon as you receive a vaccination offer - so that we are also prepared for autumn," is the appeal.
