The issue of men's violence against women is highly topical after several high-profile murders of women in the spring, something that led the parties to mark against the violence.

Minister for Gender Equality Märta Stenevi (MP) has previously said that it should be the law for men with contact bans to wear foot shackles.

She also wants to see increased penalties for, among other things, gross violations of women's rights.

- It has been investigated within the government and it has come so far that we think we can add a legal council referral to the summer, Märta Stenevi told SVT's 30 minutes in April.

Critical of the government's actions

In the interview, she was also critical of her own government's actions on the issue - and said that they had not done enough to combat violence against women.

- I think you can think about whether we should have done more.

As long as we have between 15 and 25 women a year who are killed by their husbands, it is only to state that we have not done enough, said Märta Stenevi.

At 8.15 am, the government will hold a digital press conference on the package of measures.

Also present at the press conference are Minister for Gender Equality Märta Stenevi (MP), Minister for Justice and Migration Morgan Johansson (S) and Minister for the Interior Mikael Damberg (S).
