The judge of the National Court Santiago Pedraz has agreed to open an oral trial against the former president of the Generalitat of Catalonia Jordi Pujol Soley, his 7 children and 11 other people - among them the ex-wife of Jordi Pujol Ferrusola Mercé Gironés or the businessmen Luis Delso Heras, Carlos Sumarroca Claverol and Carlos Vilarrubí- for crimes of illicit association, money laundering, continued crime of falsification of commercial documents, seven crimes against the Public Treasury and crime of frustration of execution.

In his order to open the oral trial, the judge requires Jordi Pujol Ferrusola to deposit seven and a half million euros within 10 days and Mercé Gironés 400,000 euros to cover possible civil liabilities that may arise in this procedure for the crimes against the Public Treasury.

The judge ratifies the situation of freedom of the accused and explains that there is no need to ensure their presence in the oral trial sessions with a different situation than the one they have maintained during the process, including that of leaving a record of their domicile in Spain and the obligation to appear in as many judicial calls as necessary.

The order grants the defendants a period of one month to present their defense briefs, and includes the accusation briefs of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, the State Attorney's Office and the prosecution represented by Grand Tibidabo SA in which the crimes and crimes are indicated. the prison sentences requested for the accused.

On June 16, 2020, the previous instructor in this case proposed to try the members of the Pujol Ferrusola family for forming a criminal organization that, taking advantage of their privileged position of descent in Catalan political, social and economic life for decades, accumulated a wealth excessive directly related to economic perceptions derived from corrupt activities.

In this procedure, businessmen who allegedly made millionaire payments to the family have also been investigated, as explained by De la Mata in his car, disguised under more or less sophisticated corporate structures and using different tax havens and contractual formulas.

All these simulated contracts found their consideration in the exercise of concrete influences on the part of the Pujol Ferrusola family in adjudications, changes in urban qualification, awarding of concessions, etc.
