Kim Jong Un chaired the Third Plenary Session of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea to discuss agricultural production and other issues

　　China News Agency, Beijing, June 16th, China News: According to the KCNA report on the 16th, Kim Jong-un, the general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, hosted the third plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea in Pyongyang on the 15th to summarize and discuss the people. Issues concerning the implementation of various sectors of the economy in the first half of the year, agricultural production and epidemic prevention.

　　According to reports, Kim Jong-un said that although subjective and objective conditions and the environment have become more difficult since the beginning of this year, the total industrial output value in the first half of the year has been exceeded, an increase of 25% over the same period last year, and the overall national economy has grown steadily.

However, due to the failure of the agricultural sector to complete its food production plan due to the typhoon disaster last year, the current food situation of the people is tense, and it is necessary to propose countermeasures at this plenary meeting.

　　Kim Jong-un emphasized that doing a good job in agricultural production is the current task that the party and the country must attach the utmost importance to and give priority to solving in order to provide the people with a stable life and successfully promote socialist construction.

　　The report also said that Kim Jong-un analyzed and summarized the work of various departments of the national economy in the first half of the year, and put forward the tasks and ways of implementation of the new five-year plan.

　　In addition, after listening to an analysis report on the status of emergency epidemic prevention work in the country, Kim Jong Un said that in the increasingly severe world health crisis caused by the new crown epidemic, epidemic prevention work is a top priority.

He also put forward tasks on how to uphold the national epidemic prevention status and carefully arrange economic work.
