    1. Biden meets Putin

The Cold War was a long time ago, but tensions between the USA and Russia are greater than they have been in a long time.

High time for a meeting in Geneva today.

    Negative downward spiral:

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told American President Joe Biden during his visit to Brussels that Europe and America would be united against Russia.

Breaches of international law and human rights must be clearly rejected.

The attempt to "undermine us" must be restricted.

The EU's relations with Russia are in a downward spiral.

    Criticism of Nordstream:

Sharp criticism of Joe Biden's previous policy came from the Polish government, which reiterated its warnings about the Nordstream 2 Baltic gas pipeline project from Russia to Germany and warned against Biden’s attitude towards Russia being too soft. Ukraine shares the view and was also disappointed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi was not given the opportunity to speak with Biden before the meeting with Putin in view of the Ukraine conflict with Russia.

    Killer?

The question of whether Biden actually called the Russian President that, Biden left open in Brussels, but spoke of having answered honestly and having to deal with an intelligent, robust counterpart, a "worthy opponent", whom he warned, if Vladimir Putin continues his “harmful acts”, they will respond accordingly.

    2. Germany at EM promptly under pressure

Well fought, but ultimately without a chance in the 0: 1 against France: The German national soccer team has to improve against Portugal.

    Speed:

Kylian Mbappe certainly runs faster than some. And he also made the German team look very old time and again. His goal didn't count. Instead, Mats Hummels's own goal. The French were faster, more determined and very compact defensively. Germany exerted constant pressure, but was ultimately largely harmless in front of the goal and vulnerable to the dynamic world champions at the back.

    Now Portugal:

The next opponent of the German team on Saturday at 6 p.m. is European champion Portugal around star striker Cristiano Ronaldo. With his two goals in a 3-0 win in Hungary, he has already become the most successful European Championship goalscorer in history. But his hunger for goals will not be satisfied yet. If Germany wants to have progress in their own hands, there should be no further defeat. But even then, there would still be a chance for the round of 16: Four of the six thirds in the group also progress.

    Second matchday:

The second matchday begins today at 3 p.m. the neighborhood duel between the Finns and Russia.

At 6 p.m. Turkey will play against Wales in Group A and at 9 p.m. the Italians who have won the opening game and who could make their round of 16 against Switzerland.

    3. No more “epidemic situation”

North Rhine-Westphalia decides to end the exception rules.

In many federal states the masks are falling.

    Freedom back:

Unlike the federal government, the CDU / FDP majority in North Rhine-Westphalia, together with the opposition of the Greens and the SPD, no longer thinks that they need to grant their state government extended powers because of Corona. From Friday on, the regulations will no longer apply and the "epidemic situation of nationwide consequences" will no longer be declared as given. "We are far from overloading the health system," said the FDP parliamentary group leader, Christof Rasche, to justify the situation. The Bundestag, however, had extended the “epidemic situation of national importance” for the federal government until September 30th. Otherwise it would have expired at the end of June.
