The mask outdoors will only be required in crowded situations (queue, transport, crowded places, stadium stand), said Prime Minister Jean Castex.

The lifting of the curfew will not prevent the maintenance of sanitary protocols for public places and the music festival of June 21 and other events until June 30 (organization of concerts only outdoors with barrier gestures and not on the public road, rules of gauges for bars restaurants and venues ...), he added at the end of the Council of Ministers and the Defense Council chaired by Emmanuel Macron.

35 million French people vaccinated by the end of August

Supporters of the France-Portugal Euro football match will also be able to take advantage of this lifting on June 23.

The target was set at 35 million French people fully vaccinated at the end of August, he continued, welcoming that contaminations had fallen to 3,200 cases per day on average over 7 days.

France was one of the last three countries in Europe to impose a curfew.

It entered into force on October 30 at 9:00 p.m. across the city, then was brought forward to 8:00 p.m. for the end-of-year holiday period with an exemption for Christmas.

It was then brought forward to 6:00 p.m. for the entire metropolis on January 16, then pushed back to 7:00 p.m. on March 20, then to 9:00 p.m. on May 19 and finally to 11:00 p.m. on June 9.

This relief is the most important since the second confinement.

From tomorrow, wearing a mask outdoors will no longer be compulsory except in certain circumstances (gatherings, crowded places, queues, markets, etc.).
