On the third day of Willy Bardon's appeal trial for the murder and rape of Elodie Kulik, in 2002, the courts issued the latter's call to the firefighters, a few minutes before her death.

A very trying recording that the father of the victim did not want to hear.

A moment of emotion.

The recording of Elodie Kulik's call to the firefighters was broadcast on Wednesday, on the third day of Willy Bardon's appeal trial before the Pas-de-Calais assizes.

The latter was sentenced in December 2019 to 30 years of criminal imprisonment at first instance, but he still pleads not guilty for the kidnapping, murder and rape of the young woman, 24 years old at the time of the facts, in 2002. Present during the hearing, the father of the victim, who had already had to face the photos of the discovery of his daughter's body a few hours previously, preferred to leave the room when the recording was broadcast.

"I preferred to go out"

"It was not worth submitting myself again to this horrible suffering, I preferred to go out", explains Jacky Kulik at the microphone of Europe 1. "My conviction has been made for a long time," he continues, " there are two voices that I recognize [in the recording] it is that of Elodie, my daughter, and that of Bardon. "

During the 26 seconds of this recording, passed at 12:21 am to the firefighters on January 11, 2002, we hear the cries and moans of the victim and the repeated "hello" of the firefighter operator.

At least two male voices are audible there, but far away.

Immediately after this call, the firefighters tried to call back but came across the young woman's voicemail, the president recalled.

During the investigation, five people placed in police custody, and to whom the recording had been subjected, had affirmed to recognize the voice of Willy Bardon, in January 2013. But these testimonies are questionable according to the council of the accused, Me Gabriel Duménil.

An inaudible soundtrack in defense of Bardon

"We wanted this appeal to be broadcast at the start of the trial because it is an interesting piece. It is part of the file, so it is legitimate for the jurors of the court to be aware of it," he said. at the microphone of Europe 1. "On the other hand, it is not a question of repeating it because we understand that the more we will hear it, the more we will, perhaps, form an opinion. experts will tell us that this exhibit cannot be used in a criminal trial. "

If he was therefore not against the broadcasting of the recording, Me Gabriel Duménil, on the other hand, mentioned an "inaudible soundtrack, on which we can not even distinguish what the protagonists say, which dates from 2002. and to which we come to compare voices from 2013 ", considering that" all this is a hoax ".

The recording has already been the subject of 14 expertises during the investigation conducted from 2002 to 2017. Next week, new experts are due to come to the hearing to present their conclusions.
